Ralf Ludwig is Professor in Physical Geography and Environmental Modeling at LMU Munich, Department of Geography and currently the Dean of the Faculty of Geosciences. His research interests focus on the development of process-based environmental models, mainly in hydrology and water resources management. He is the Co-ordinator of the EU-FP7 project ‘Climate Induced Changes on the Hydrology of Mediterranean Basins’ (CLIMB) and chairs the collaborative program ‘Changes in the Hydrological Cycle’ of the European Climate Research Alliance ECRA (www.ecra-climate.eu). Further, he specializes in multi-scale and multi-parametric SAR and optical remote sensing, data assimilation and model integration and acts herein as PI and Co-I in several ESA, DLR and ASI projects. He runs multiple research projects and academic exchange with collaborators in Québec and is a collaborator to the ArcticNet, a network of Centres of Excellence of Canada, where he contributes to the development of a concise remote sensing-based high-resolution monitoring and modeling network for the assessment of permafrost dynamics in Northern Quebec.
